Here's what the opioid crisis looks like in the US state of Ohio. Rescuers arrive at the site and injected naloxone - an antidote, used in an overdose. This drug in the US is widely distributed among friends and relatives of drug addicts. He temporarily interrupts the state of drug depression, removing a person from a foggy or even unconscious state, restoring breathing. But its action is short-term: from 20 minutes to 3-4 hours. In some districts, naloxone is given to policemen.

So they can help a person faster, rather than wait for the arrival of doctors. For the state of Ohio, this is very important. Last year, overdose deaths here increased by one third. Their number has exceeded 4000. However, there is still heated debate over whether police officers are required to introduce an antidote. Some consider it their duty. Others worry about personal safety. In Clermont County, the police have naloxone. Since 2014 over 90 people have been saved from overdose here.
