This is not the lightest Christmas story, but it has a happy ending.

It began in the 1970s, when the 18-year-old Marcy Keithley met on a barbecue with the 28-year-old handsome Roger Roth. They fell in love at first sight. Eight months after the meeting, Marcy discovered that she was pregnant.

She hoped that the beloved marry her, but for a long time she was afraid to tell him the truth, and time passed. "Questions of the doctor only poured salt on the wound. How will you live? When is the wedding? How do you expect to bring up a child without education? He said that his friends really want to adopt a child, "recalls Marcy.

When she told Roger about pregnancy, he gave dozens of reasons why he could not be a father. "I hated myself for it, but you can not throw words out of the song, it was," Roger says now..

And then Marcy decided to give the child for adoption. As reported by The Indianapolis Star, the midwives did not say who was born with Marcy, but she refused to leave the hospital without seeing her child. She said that she needs to know that everything is fine.

A couple of months, on a New Year's Eve, drunken Roger appeared in Marcy's apartment. He said that he made a mistake that he wants to be with her and with her daughter. But it was too late - the girl by that time had already adopted. This became an insuperable barrier in the relationship between Marcy and Roger.

Years passed, decades passed. Marcy married, raised a second daughter and divorced. But, she said, she never forgot her first-born.

And after 28 years she again met Roger. He never married, notes usa. one.

It was then that they decided to find a girl - more precisely, an adult girl. They were helped by people searching for biological parents of foster children.

So Roger and Marcy first met their daughter - Jessica, in 2006. They found out that Jessica's life was unhappy. She never graduated from high school, struggled with alcohol dependence and gave birth to five children from five fathers. She gave two children to foster families. Her foster parents died.

Roger and Marcy began to fight for her daughter. Jessica was able to get rid of addiction, rent a house in Indiana and get a job in Amazon.

This year, parents decided to adopt 39-year-old Jessica. Adult adoptions are extremely rare, but they are legal by law in the state of Indiana.

Last week, Marcy and Roger signed all the necessary documents. "It was one of the best moments of my life," says Roger. "At the age of 72, I finally became a real father. It's never too late ".
