In half of the EU countries, girls smoke more than boys

In Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Great Britain and Malta, the difference is only 1-2%, while in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Luxembourg, the number of girls smokers is 5-9% higher than that of boys.

In general, 14% of teenagers smoke in the EU today, and this is the lowest rate since 1993-1994, according to the annual report on the health of Europeans, quoted by EuroPulse.

The least teenagers smoke in Denmark, Ireland, Sweden and the UK - less than 10% of 15-year-olds take cigarettes in their hands. And the worst situation is in Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary and Italy, where more than 20% of teenagers smoke at least once a week.
