They were suspected of involvement in the embezzlement of 38 million hryvnia of public funds. As the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine informs, regional officials have appropriated funds received from consumers for their heat supply services.

This money was intended for settlement with the national joint-stock company. However, the money was spent, and the residents of the village of Smila remained without heat, as the heating season was thwarted due to the disconnection of part of the boiler.

Law enforcers have established that officials make inaccurate data in receipts of a number of consumers of the village and seized tens of millions of hryvnia. At the same time, according to this scheme, officials worked for four years.

During searches at offices of enterprises involved in the criminal scheme and in the place of residence of the defendants, the police seized drafts, seals, cliches of nominee directors of enterprises involved in the scheme of embezzlement, financial and economic documentation.

At present, the former director of a state-owned enterprise and the former head of a controlled commercial structure was informed of suspicion. They are charged with committing a criminal offense under the article Organization of appropriation of funds of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the police of Zhytomyr region detained a group of people who are suspected of involvement in the embezzlement of state property. Among the detainees there are also military.
