Ukrainian professor, historian Vasily Marochko said that the Holodomor in Ukraine was the result of the mental illness of the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, which arose because of the personality cult reigning around him.

"Was the Holodomor Stalin's revenge on Ukraine? I think it was not revenge, but the consequence of his mental illness as a result of the unlimited power of a man who thought he was God on earth. Therefore, the consequences of the personality cult are always terrible, "said Marochko.

Ukrainian professor and historian Vasily Marochko said that the main mystery in the Holodomor issues in Ukraine, which remains to be solved by historians, is the present number of victims of this terrible tragedy.

"We need to finally determine the number of victims of the Holodomor. Our demographers estimate today the losses of 3.6 - 3.9 million. I can say with certainty that in Ukraine more than seven million people died. What are the grounds for this? Two archival and criminal cases against the demographers of the 1930s - the head of the CSU Alexander Asadkin and the demographer Arsen Khomenko, whom their colleagues called one of the most authoritative experts of the 20-30s, "said Marochko.
