In 2012, 8-year-old Mali saved the lives of many British soldiers in Afghanistan. Despite his injuries, he continued to carry out the assignment until he was sure that his colleagues were safe.

Five years later, he received a medal equivalent to the Cross of Victoria - the highest military award in Britain, awarded for heroism in combat. But Mali has a special medal. It is given only to animals.

Mali - Belgian Shepherd, who was in the service of the British army in Afghanistan. In 2012, he first went into the house captured by terrorists and, under fire, searched for explosive charges there to protect his soldiers. The terrorists threw several fragmentation grenades into it, but despite injuries to the face, body and paws, Mali continued to carry out the assignment and did not leave until he finished.

"I'm very proud of him," said touched Daniel Hatley, who took part in the awards ceremony for his ward. - He did everything to ensure the salvation of the lives of our soldiers. People always receive medals for such heroic behavior, and the dogs continue, as if nothing had happened. It is not right.

Mali and others like him deserve recognition and reward ".

And indeed, Mali is not the first awarded four-footed hero. Since 1943, he became the 69th four-footed soldier who received a medal for courage in the UK. For example, once it was awarded to a cat heroically catching mice on a Chinese ship.

And once the medal was awarded to a pigeon for some special task, probably connected with the delivery of a secret mail under enemy fire.
