Now the fathers account for about 28% of the days of maternity leave (and 72% for mothers), and 10 years ago the newly-made dads took only 21% of the days of maternity leave (the remaining 79% fell on the mothers).

In Sweden for each newborn child there are 480 days of maternity leave, of which at least 90 days each parent should take. The rest of the holidays can be divided as desired, but the state pushes the popes to take more days off, notes EuroPulse.

The record holder in Sweden is the municipality of Lomma - where the popes account for 33% of the maternity leave. And the fathers take the least part of vacation days in Dals-Ede - 19.5%.
