On Wednesday in Ukraine begins the next stage of the introduction of the bill on quotas of Ukrainian-language songs and broadcasts on the radio - come into force the norm.

Provided by the transitional provisions of Law No. 1421-VIII "On Amending Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Share of Musical Works in the State Language in Programs of Broadcasting Organizations". According to Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirilenko, during the year of the Ukrainian quota, the radio audience significantly increased. He also believes that the radio audience did not decrease, but increased, and no radio station through quotas has ceased to exist ".

Calculation of the quota refers to the total volume of songs during the day, as well as from those included in the air from 7:00 to 14:00, and also in the time interval 15:00 - 22:00. In addition, the share of programs, including news, analytical or entertainment blocks, should be at least 55%, previously 50%.

For failure to comply with the norm, a penalty of 5% of the total amount of the license fee.

Control over the implementation of these requirements by radio stations is entrusted to the National Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting.

As previously reported in URA-Inform, in Ukraine came into effect the law 2054-VIII language quotas on television. The corresponding bill obliges broadcasters to bring a share of content in the state language. On national channels up to 75 percent, and on the airs of regional and local TV companies - up to 60 percent.
