American historian Richard Pipes sees no reason for the collapse of Russia.

He stated this in an interview with Radio Svaboda.

The historian notes that people in the post-Soviet space are not interested in politics. According to him, about 15% of citizens are interested in politics in Russia, 85% of people are engaged exclusively in private life. In his opinion, a similar situation develops in Belarus. Hence, he sees no opportunities for decommunization of countries.

"And how can 15% of the population decommunize the country?" This is a matter of political culture, which in Eastern Europe is not. This is very difficult to change, "states Pipes.

He notes that communism no longer exists, but people also do not need anything other than personal privacy. Talk about the changes, according to the expert, it will be possible only when people start to be interested in politics and understand that this affects their lives.

At the same time, the question of whether the former colonies of the Kremlin can become free after the collapse of Russia, the historian answered that he sees no reason for this disintegration to happen.

"I do not think that Russia will fall apart. I do not see the grounds. There are minorities there, of course, but most are Russians or people who consider themselves to be such. I am already very mature and less interested in Eastern Europe. It's hard for me to give advice. But do not expect that Russia will fall apart. Your salvation in another. Just be interested in politics, "says Pipes..
