Scheduled tactical-special exercises were conducted at the Southern Railway Station of Kharkiv, the coordination group of the Anti-Terrorist Center at the regional administration of the Security Service of Ukraine, the press center of the Security Council of Ukraine.

More than six hundred employees from all regional subjects of the antiterrorist activity of the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, the State Service for Emergency Situations, the National Guard, the Armed Forces, the State Penitentiary Service, the State Border Service, state authorities and local self-government, as well as representatives of the administration of the " Southern Railway ". Used more than forty units of automobile and special equipment, including military armored cars.

Under the scenario of the exercises, a group of armed saboteurs, planning to disorganize the work of the railway and divert the attention of law enforcement officers, tried to make an explosion and disable the automated system for managing railroad traffic. Using panic, another armed group of their accomplices captured hostages in one of the carriages of a passenger train.

The units involved in the exercises should localize the consequences of the explosion, with the involvement of explosion specialists, to inspect the scene of the incident, determine the signs of conditional saboteurs, track down and detain them, release hostages and neutralize armed terrorists.

After analyzing the collected data on conditional attackers and carrying out filtration measures, law enforcement officers detained members of the first sabotage group. Terrorists, barricaded themselves in a railway car and covered themselves with hostages, were neutralized by the soldiers of the special unit of the SBU Alfa during the assault operation.

The conducted exercises became the next step in the systemic activity of the Security Service of Ukraine aimed at preventing, responding and suppressing terrorist acts and minimizing their consequences.
