On Monday, August 21, "a great solar eclipse" observed by residents of 14 states observe. For the first time in 99 years the sun was completely covered by the Moon.

In other countries, this will only happen in part. In Ukraine, unfortunately, it is not visible due to the fact that it is already evening.

At the same time, the natural phenomenon covered the continental part of the States from the west to the east coast, for which it was dubbed the "Great Solar Eclipse". The eclipse line will connect the eastern and western coasts of the country in an area of ??approximately 113 kilometers by 4.8 thousand kilometers.

The sun was completely closed for more than two minutes. At the same time, the current eclipse became the longest in history.

All those who do not live in the US can watch an online broadcast of the solar eclipse, which is conducted by the NASA site from a height of 30 thousand meters above the ground. Tracking the eclipse is the DKIST telescope - the most powerful solar telescope in the world.

By the Kiev time, the total eclipse began at 21:26. The solar corona will be several times larger than during the previous eclipses. Bright stars and planets become visible.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the previous total solar eclipse could be observed in 2015. Then it was seen in Ukraine.
