Border guards have switched to the strengthened variant of carrying out of service to the Independence Day of Ukraine. This is reported by the press-service of the State Fire Service,.

"Since August 20, in connection with the preparation for the Independence Day of Ukraine, the State Border Service together with other law enforcement agencies will be more closely involved in service and be in a strengthened version," the message reads.

As it is noted, on the eve of the state holidays all bodies of the State Border Guard Service are concentrating their maximum efforts on ensuring security and order at the checkpoints on the state border of Ukraine, at checkpoints of entry and exit on the line of delimitation in the area of ??ATO and on the administrative border with TOT Crimea. In particular, the inspection work was intensified, the number of border patrols increased and the service dogs were actively involved.

Border guards will work closely with representatives of the National Police, the National Guard, rescuers, local authorities, local authorities and carry out a thorough check of documents of persons and vehicles that will be located near the state border.

According to Vasily Servatyuk, the first deputy chairman of the SBS, it is currently expected to increase passenger flows on the state border, which is due to the end of the vacation season, preparation for state holidays and the approaching of the school year. In addition, there is an increase in business activity at checkpoints.

"These factors increase the likelihood of conflict and provocative situations," B. Servatyuk.

Also, during the state holidays, the border guards will provide around-the-clock duty of the situational groups to respond in the event of a change in the situation, as well as to localize conflict situations at checkpoints and at the state border.

In border units, especially those involved in the antiterrorist operation in Lugansk and Donetsk regions, additional practical exercises will be conducted to counter terrorist activities of militants and readiness to repel in case of sudden attacks.
