An elderly couple Nick and Tris Elderhost, who lived 65 years of age, died at the same time as a result of double euthanasia in the Dutch city of Didam, the British newspaper Daily Telegraph.

Spouses Elderhost, both at the age of 91, died in the environment of relatives and friends. "They kissed hard and went to another world, holding hands confidently. According to their own desire, "- said their daughter.

As the newspaper notes, during the last five years the spouses' health deteriorated. In 2012, Elderhost suffered a stroke, after which his mobility became limited. His wife also became hard to move around. In addition, doctors diagnosed her memory loss.

As their second daughter reported, her mother was found to be sane, but if her husband died, he could completely lose his orientation and end up in a nursing home.

"This is something she did not want terribly," said the daughter of Elderhost.

Holland became the first country to legalize euthanasia in 2002 for terminally ill patients experiencing serious physical suffering. Earlier it was reported that in 2015, the Netherlands recorded more than 5.5 thousand cases of euthanasia, which is now practiced also in several other European countries.
