In Shali, the court sentenced the master of one of the enterprises to Alexander Velikanov, who was found guilty of illegal logging of trees on an especially large scale. In March of this year, the defendant instructed his employees to cut down the forest area, saying that he had permission to cut down.

In total, the lumberjacks piled birches, fir, aspen, limes, pines and spruce with a total volume of more than a thousand cubic meters. According to the supervisory authority, the damage to the state amounted to 4.5 million rubles.

The court sentenced Velikanov to two years' imprisonment conditionally and seized all the cut wood in the state's income. However, the master early to rejoice in a relatively mild sentence. The prosecutor's office, having shown its principled nature in pursuing the black logger, filed a lawsuit in court to collect damages of 4.5 million rubles.
