The report says that after the unconvincing meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, the head of the trade union of municipal employees Nikos Tricas said that the protest will continue.

Thus, municipal garbage collectors blocked garages with garbage trucks, as well as landfills.

The union demands that the government allocate permanent jobs for long-term contract workers.

In turn, the Greek authorities warn strikers that unprocessed garbage poses a threat to the health of the population, especially given the hot weather forecast for the coming week.

The Minister of Tourism also urged the union to review the terms of the strike, arguing that the protest jeopardizes public health. In addition, she said, this situation will negatively affect tourism, as well as the country's international image.

The Athens Trade Association also called on both sides to reach a compromise, warning that heaps of garbage will prevent tourists from traveling to the Greek capital.

Earlier, URA-Inform reported that 882 tons of garbage was removed from Lviv per day.
