In the Kharkiv region, the Constitution Day was celebrated together with about 100 deputies from Europe and Secretary General of the Congress of Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Andreas Kiefer.

According to the website of the State Administration, guests of the Kharkiv region took part in laying flowers at the Independence Monument on the Constitution Square.

Andreas Kiefer noted that it is a great honor for the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe to hold the first meeting of the Monitoring Committee here in Kharkov.

"Many of our members came here for the first time in their lives and discovered a very professionally organized meeting and great hospitality. The Congress supports Ukraine on its way to building a Western-style democracy, and the Constitution is very important in this process. Adoption of the Constitution is a big step towards democracy and the establishment of human rights and freedoms, "said the Secretary General of the Congress of Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.

He noted that Ukraine can count on the support of Europeans in the process of implementing reforms and developing a democratic society. He also thanked the head of the Kharkov region Yulia Svetlichnaya for the hospitality and very professional organization of the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Congress in Kharkov.

Yulia Svetlichnaya noted that today, together with the receipt of Ukraine's visa-free regime, citizens of the country have the opportunity to discover Europe.

"And I'm very pleased that not only Ukrainians are discovering peace, but also Europe is discovering Ukraine. New Ukraine. Deputies of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe for the first time held in the Kharkiv region. As reported, yesterday in Kharkov in the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe about 100 participants and guests from 31 European countries, as well as the Secretary General of the Congress Andreas Kiefer.

Issues of economic and humanitarian cooperation of the European community, the role of local authorities in the development of the country, as well as issues of security, migration and the implementation of social programs were discussed..
