On June 3, while performing a combat mission in the "gray zone", the deputy commander of a special detachment of special purpose "Vega" of the Western Territorial Administration of the National Guard, the commander of the 2nd reconnaissance and search group, Lieutenant-Colonel Alexander Boyko.

Boyko was born on December 3, 1981, in 2004 he graduated from the Odessa Institute of Land Forces. Prior to the transfer to the Special Forces of the NSU in Ivano-Frankivsk for a long time served in the 8th Regiment of the special forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Boyko's group of 15 reconnaissance personnel received the assignment of the ATU headquarters to conduct reconnaissance in the zone of the 24th mechanized brigade in the Popasnaya area, Katerynovka, Zolotoe. The usual task, special forces and snipers of the National Guard conduct regular searches in the "gray zone", including in this area. Positions of the enemy in the area where they were going were poorly studied. Boyko took with him not the whole group - but only five fighters. The reasons are not clear. Perhaps I did not want to risk everyone.

The group moved far away from the positions of the Ukrainian troops and became closer to the enemy positions. At about 11. 00 during the movement of the group, she was subjected to a firing raid. The fire was not aimed, apparently, they beat the area, hearing a noise or noticing the movement from one of the enemy observation posts.

The first official report dealt with mortar shelling. However, later reports were also received on the shelling of small arms. However, a close fire contact did not occur. Judging by the available descriptions of the nature of the fighting collision, it was about firing from a distance.

During the fire attack, Lieutenant-Colonel Boyko, who moved first at the head of the group, received several injuries.

The soldiers carried him aside, and reported that from the injuries Alexander had died on the spot. With the commander removed equipment and weapons, but the body decided not to take.

The group came out in disarray - one of the fighters came out himself. They were not pursued. They left without a commander and reported that they were waiting for an ambush.

In search of his friend immediately went out with another group of another deputy commander of "Vega" - Lieutenant Colonel Vladislav Aller (son of the commander of NSU).

However, it was not possible to detect the body of Boyko in the indicated place by the Allerov group. During the search, the group entered the enemy's position, was subjected to long-range bombardment, and was forced to stop searching.

It became obvious - either in determining the place of leaving the body there was an error, or Boyko did not die, and after severe injuries he managed to crawl into some kind of shelter.

The ATU Command requested a truce in the area to search for an officer.

The place of disappearance was near enemy positions. The Russian command stated that as a result of long-term searches, the lieutenant-colonel was not found.

Unfortunately, despite the lack of understanding of the situation, co-workers of the lieutenant colonel's wife reported that he died in battle, that the body will be delivered to the unit in the near future. However, the body was not found.

It's been three weeks now, Alexander's fate is unknown. Evidence that he died at the moment is not present.

The headquarters of the ATU and the command of the NSU made official reports that the whereabouts of the lieutenant-colonel is unknown.

While there is no reason to assume that Alexander is in the hands of Russian special services. Boyko, in fact, was engaged in military intelligence, especially classified information, he did not have access to intelligence data. If the enemy had seized the body of the deceased, then as usual they would try to arrange a performance, play in public. If he were alive - similarly.

Alexander has a family - the wife of Svetlana Boyko, and two daughters, in 2009 and 2011,.

Unfortunately, there are good reasons for bitter accusations from the wife of Lieutenant-Colonel Boyko, who claims that the soldiers threw a seriously injured commander. And these charges must be assessed.

I think that the case requires a thorough investigation of the military prosecutor's office. In the course of the war, unfortunately, there were many instances of the abandonment of their fighters in sudden fire contact. Sometimes this is the result of objective circumstances - the battle in reconnaissance is unpredictable. However, these phenomena are inadmissible, and can not and should not be perceived as a normal situation in battle. If it will be established that the ability to render the commander's body during the battle with the scouts was, the responsibility for leaving their own must be tough, indicative. Return from the job should be the same number of fighters as there are. They can not be thrown - this should be the first rule for intelligence. Those who do not understand this - in intelligence is not the place.
