In Chernihiv, experts of the State Research and Test Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine completed the practical phase of determining departmental tests of the new unmanned aircraft complex "Fly Eye", the Main reports with reference to the press service of the Defense Ministry.
They were conducted in the field in order to confirm the declared characteristics of the aircraft. The UAV was manufactured at the Chernigov company CHESARA for the development of the Polish company WB Electronics SA.
The event also involved military experts from the Air Force and Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other scientific institutions of the Defense Ministry.
According to military scientists, "Fly Eye" showed quite good results on the exploration of the conventional "battlefield". In particular, the UAV carried out a task to identify various objects at different distances from the control point. In this case, the "Fly Eye" had stable control and transmitted a high-quality image to the receiving station.
The peculiarity of this aviation complex is that just before the landing, the "Fly Eye" has the ability to dump the useful load on a parachute, "said Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Kamak, the head of the test department of unmanned aerial systems of the State Research and Test Center. - In the future, the aircraft itself is sent to a certain landing location.
As the officer said, as a result of the tests, military scientists will develop their proposals for improving the aircraft. On their basis, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense will decide on the capture of UAV on armament and the beginning of mass production.
According to WB Electronics, the Fly Eye has a direct wingspan of 3.6 meters and an electric motor. In the central compartment of the fuselage is located equipment for reconnaissance. The engine allows the device to develop speeds from 50 to 170 kilometers per hour, climb to a height of 4 kilometers and reconnoiter within three hours. At the same time, communication facilities provide operation at a distance of 30 to 50 kilometers from the operator's console. Data transmission is carried out in real time.
