The police, unexpectedly for the journalist Alexander Levchuk, not only did not ignore the statements, but also sent a confirmation letter: the drivers were brought to administrative responsibility for using unregistered symbols. About this writes Belsat.

"This tape became a symbol of the war in Ukraine, when I see the Russian flag on the car, I feel a danger, because it all started in Abkhazia, so the only way to get rid of it is to have an active civil position," explains the position Alexander Levchuk.

St. George's ribbon first appeared on the awards of the Russian Empire before the First World War, in the Soviet Union it was used as an element of the award for the victory over Germany. But it also became a symbol of the war in the Donbass - the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine this year adopted a law according to which for carrying a tape or demonstrating it can get a fine, and for a repeated violation even sit down for 15 days.

The use of St. George's ribbon is also undesirable in Lithuania and Georgia. In Belarus, on Victory Day, it's already been carefully replaced for a year by a red-green, apple-tree flower in the middle.

"Today it is not too late to say that St. George's ribbon for the territory of Belarus is unacceptable, we live in an independent state, and we offer a new symbolism, for example, which symbolizes the courage and heroism of the Belarusian people already in the present," says historian Igor Kuznetsov.

In his opinion, the civil society itself should turn to the proposal for a new, Belarusian tape - if it does not want a state or neighbor country to take up this matter.
