Invaders force residents of the annexed Crimea to serve in the Russian army.

This is stated in the report on the situation with human rights in Ukraine published on the website of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the period from February 16 to May 15, 2017.

"On April 1, the conscription campaign for the Russian Federation armed forces began in 2017, which, in the case of Crimean residents, violates an international ban to force them into military service in the armed forces of the occupying state," reads the document.

It is noted that this year the invaders want to call 2,400 people in Crimea. Previously, the inhabitants of the peninsula served in parts of the territory of Crimea.

"In 2017, they will also be sent to military units on the territory of the Russian Federation for the first time," the report says..

In addition, it is clarified that on April 12, the Russian military commissioner at a press conference in the Crimea said that a criminal was initiated against a local resident who refused to serve in the Russian army.

It is also stressed that, according to the Fourth Geneva Convention (art. 51), the occupiers do not have the right to force persons in the annexed territory to serve in its armed or auxiliary forces.

As reported by the "Observer", it became known earlier how the invaders hide the truth about the Crimea.
