It is not advisable for Ukraine to change its name to Kievan Rus', as this will cause some confusion, as well as the claims of the neighboring state, which "stole a lot from us".

This opinion was expressed to the "Observer" by the coordinator of the "Information Resistance" group, People's Deputy of Ukraine ("Popular Front" faction) Dmitry Tymchuk.

Answering the question of the "Observer", Ukraine could, like Macedonia, go on renaming the country for the sake of joining NATO, he said: "Thank God, there are no problems that were due to the collapse of Yugoslavia. Ukraine from the first days of its independence had a name to which no claims were made. Especially considering that many countries, including neighboring ones, existed only in the project, when the name of Kievan Rus arose, where Ukraine originates from ".

"In that case, perhaps we should be called Kievan Rus?" - asked "The Observer". "I think that there is another country that has stolen from us a lot of things, including the name Rus. Therefore, in the first place, there will be confusion. Secondly, this country will make big claims. Of course, our claims are, in general, indifferent, but in the world there are countries that are still guided by the opinion of Russia, "Tymchuk noted..

"If the question was that Ukraine must change its name in order to join NATO, could we go for it?" - the "Observer" once again asked,. "This is a matter of moral and ethical choice of the nation, for which I personally am not ready to sign, despite the fact that I am a people's deputy of Ukraine".

"This is theorizing from the field:" are you ready to receive a free lifelong fare in transport if you change your gender ". This is a hypothetical thing. Thank God, these are not our realities, "said the People's Deputy.

As the "Observer" wrote, sources of RIA Novosti reported that by the spring of 2018 Macedonia will join NATO, having changed its name for the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
