The bulk of cases of measles is recorded in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, which may indicate its foreign origin.

This information on the air "The Observer. LIVE "was confirmed by Roman Rodyna, Deputy Director General of the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

"Indeed, 139 cases were recorded in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Other cases: 11 in the Dnepropetrovsk region and 8 in Odessa. But then in May the Odessa region gave about a hundred cases. Therefore, now the number of cases is much greater, "- acknowledged the official.

According to him, the disease could be brought into the region from neighboring Romania.

"We know that measles is a contagious infection. The probability of transmission of infection is close to 100% if we are in contact with a patient. The mechanism is similar to infection with influenza. We know that the Ivano-Frankivsk region, bordering on neighboring countries, we know that in Romania there was a disease epidemic.

It is possible that the path of infection, which unfortunately does not know the boundaries, could be a cross-border path, "he said..

He also added that there is a threat of spreading the infection to neighboring areas.

"The data that we have for today, indicate that the number of patients there has also increased," - concluded the expert.

As reported by the "Observer", earlier in the Ministry of Health announced shocking data on the increase in cases of measles incidence in several regions of Ukraine.
