The dismantling of the coat of arms of the USSR from the monument "Motherland" in Kiev slowed due to technical and financial problems.

This was stated by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Vladimir Vyatrovich in an interview with "UNN".

"Now the only problem that actually prevents the removal of the arms is a technical problem (how to do this by cutting or imposing something)," Vyatrovich said..

According to him, this issue is followed by a financial problem, because the dismantling will require additional funds.

The historian expressed the hope that in the near future a practical engineering solution would be found and the Soviet coat of arms would be removed from the monument. "Moreover, this monument is one of the visiting cards of Kiev, and it is very bad that this card is marked by totalitarian symbols," Vyatrovich said..

At the same time, he said that he was not ready to name the approximate date for dismantling the coat of arms.
