Why was the assault of Kiev so bloody and monstrous?

Finishing the epic with the renaming of Vatutin Avenue in Kiev, I would like to draw attention to some historical aspects that show the need to get rid of such odious names. At the same time, we will not dwell in detail on the fact that the very expression "liberation of Kiev" has already lost its propagandistic meaning. We see right now that the hereditary scoop - Russia, is engaged in "liberation". We did not give the Russians much "release", but the Syrians were less fortunate, and the Muscovites "liberated" Aleppo and continue to "liberate" other cities.

Again, there is no point in showing the price of the "liberation", which without hesitation the Soviet military commanders, including Vatutin, paid for just such "liberation," but pay attention to a couple of aspects that disappeared behind the hundreds of thousands of corpses with which the vatutins laid the bottom and banks of the Dnieper In several layers.

The first one relates to the motivation of just such, with the grandiose and possibly the biggest losses of a scoop, in one operation, in the history of the Second World War. Neither we nor anyone else can specify the exact numbers of scoop losses. This is a common practice for a scoop. They do not want to count their losses, because if we give a full statistics, there will not be a single commander, in the usual sense of the word, starting with Field Marshal Suvorov. They would rather go to the specialists of the slaughterhouse of the meat-packing plant, but not to the generals. In addition, it was in the Kiev operation that the two factors gave a second layer of cover over the scale of losses. The first one is the forced mobilization of the Ukrainian regions under control. These people simply did not spend on the lists of losses, but because they left free and silent cannon fodder, which no one even considered. The second - the place of the death of the main part of the storming - the Dnieper. No one will ever be able to collect the remains of the deceased and even approximately to name their number, for the river buried them so reliably that it will remain a mystery.

So, there are two versions of how and why the storming of Kiev was so bloody and monstrous. The first version is that the management of the scoop was worried about the possible destruction of the city, and therefore - craved the speedy expulsion of the enemy. In fact, nothing like this has ever occurred to anyone. Soviet troops, when they left the city in the autumn of 1941, destroyed it with perseverance worthy of a better application. It was then that the historic center of Kiev died, which is now built up with vulgar or simply monstrous buildings. And during the assault, the artillery had no restrictions in the bombardment of the city. That is, in this tale did not believe neither the military, nor those Kiev, who stayed all this time in the city.

Second version, semi-legal. She points to the date of the seizure of the city - November 6. Those who found the scoop, it is well known how it was decided to do something to the significant dates. For example, the surrender of Germany was to occur by May 1, 1945. No sooner had they, but Zhukov and Konev wanted this very much, so they drove the troops into an obvious meat grinder, not counting the losses. Berlin could well have been taken under siege, and he would have simply surrendered in a month without much loss during the assault and in street battles. The Americans refused this, although their pace of advance to Berlin was much higher than the Soviet army.

The same is true of Kiev. It was decided to seize it by November 7, the day of the October coup, thereby making a gift to Stalin. It was this gift that cost about half a million lives. This version has almost an official status and no one particularly bothers. Someone writes that the Bolsheviks were behaving on dates and from this you can not get away and put a fat point on it, we'll put a comma here and move on. There is something to speculate about and this will also give an idea of ??what and how the vatutins did in the Kiev operation.

Since we can not get to the numbers of losses in this operation, at least we will try to imagine how this was done and through it - we will try to estimate the depth of the plan. After this, decide whether it was worth leaving the name of the prospectus, or still wash it off in the toilet.
