Ukraine since May 22 received the first 190 applications for the import of book products from Russia.
Commenting on the first results of the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding Restriction of Access to the Ukrainian Market of Foreign Printed Products of Anti-Ukrainian Content," Deputy Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kirilenko said on Ukrainian Radio.
"Since May 22, the first 190 applications for the import of book products from Russia have already been received, of which 112 are satisfied within 10 days, as provided by law," Kirilenko noted..
He specified that the literature contains neutral content regarding Ukraine.
The Vice Prime Minister also said that the law provides for the introduction of the register of publishing products of the aggressor state, which is allowed to be imported and distributed on the territory of Ukraine.
Thus, at the time of issuing a permit, a corresponding entry is made in the state register, without which the book will be seized and confiscated. In addition, in such a case a fine is imposed in the amount of 10 minimum wages, and in case of repeated violation - 50 minimum wages.
"It is not profitable for anyone to disseminate subversive anti-Ukrainian literature, which, accordingly, will not have permits, and thus violate the law and subject itself to administrative penalties.
We are on the path that will lead to a significant strengthening of the position of our book in our market, "Kirilenko added..
According to him, most experts support the introduction of permits for book products, since this not only constitutes a barrier against anti-Ukrainian products, but also provides priority conditions for Ukrainian publishers to develop the book market.
As reported by the "Observer", earlier in Ukraine came into force new rules on Russian books.
