Child in the hospital: be around

Back in March, in Lviv, I was in the hospital corridor at night. One mommy needed to shower, and the baby did not sleep, and it was scary to leave. And I took this child, and sat with him under the shower, we waited with his mother and he played a microphone.

The last four months, mostly on Mondays, I rented children's hospitals. I saw how to someone for the first time put into intensive care mother. As doctors run with the child on their hands along the corridor - to save. As parents go to their children every day - for many tens of kilometers, with shifting. Or rent rooms and hostels near the hospital. Or they sleep with a child in their arms.

I'm the same as they are - me and Tema also once got to the hospital, the virus. And I remember that separation, and the night, and how Theme cried, and they tried to put a dropper, but that's blood, then the needle is not there. The nurse was angry, and he was hot and disheveled, it seemed that my heart would now burst. I hugged him with all my might, swaying like a baby, as once, still in the hospital, when he was small and thin, and constantly cold, and I warmed him with myself, covered us with a blanket on the top, his hands and feet warmed, and he Finally could fall asleep.

... On that bunk in the children's hospital I pressed him to myself, it seemed that we were with him again - like one whole, one organism. And the temperature began to subside.

And last year, I got into a children's hospital in Warsaw. And besides, there was absolutely no smell of medicines at all - only detergents were replaced, so everything was there for the parents - folding beds, kitchens, coffee, washing machines - miracles. It turns out that they are there in the West for a long time know - to be with their mother - the basic need of the child, as is, how to drink, how to breathe. The main medicine.

And then I wanted to show how it is with us. Together with the Foundation of Ronald McDonald, we made our documentary project "Buti Ruchach".

As children's hospitals - often turn into a test, and as children - most of all on earth waiting for mom.

The Foundation is now starting work in Ukraine - children's rooms will be opened for parents, and sometime in the future, perhaps even at home for relatives at hospitals! I dream and I believe that everything can change.

Stay close to children.
