On Wednesday, May 31, on the 85th year of his life the former head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Lyubomir Guzar, died..

"The Observer" publishes 10 topical quotes of Lubomir Husar about the Maidan, corruption in Ukraine and Russia's aggression in the Donbass:.

The Maidan began a very strong process of change. Question: Are we ready to continue? I hope that a new generation, not destroyed by the Soviet, if we educate him well, will step by step go for the better.

Moscow does its work through the UOC-MP, it tries not to admit to unity with other Ukrainian churches. But, in the end, it does not depend on Moscow, but on us.

Vladimir Putin is a child of his people. I personally think that you can not understand it without being conscious of the historical background of that state.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church can become an instrument, thanks to which Russia would like to prevent full independence of Ukraine. It is not a secret that Russia wants to preserve Ukraine under its influence, that it does not agree with our aspirations as a state and as a people.

There were Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, the Soviet system. And this system is still alive. Look further into the past. Russia has never been calm. It is a pity, because the war will be an unhappy end for the Russian people. Imperial ambitions will not give anything to this country.

Elite - it's not just those people who know how to see the problem and quickly find a solution. These are people who know how to look far ahead. We must look further, much farther to understand the consequences of our own decisions. The one who looks far, above all else, preserves the main thing - human dignity.

We have come to the fact that a person looks at another person as an enemy. So much violence on television, that a person gets used to it, thinks that it should be so. When our god becomes a penny, we can do a lot, and it's very dangerous.

Loving is a great danger. Even the ancient Greeks and Romans knew that power corrupts people. Only I state the fact: for most people, in fact, power is dangerous. And wealth too.

I do not know what motivates a person to say this (about the unity of the Ukrainian and Russian peoples. - Red. ), Because, of course, the difference is. We are two different people, and then from the very beginning. We have a different story. Such statements have a political statement rather than a statement that a person would give, objectively looking at the situation.

10. Russia sooner or later must realize: either war, or peace. And if the war, it will be equally terrible for all. And not the fact that Russia will definitely win this war.

As reported by the "Observer", Poroshenko expressed his condolences over the death of Husar.
