As far as I know, Ksenia Sobchak is very worried about the reaction of the Ukrainians to her words. This suggests that even intellectually developed people in the Russian Federation do not understand what is worth, and why Russians should not talk about Ukraine. Why this happens, I have my own version.
The fact is that the Russian society from top to bottom, from unknown people to media people, is inherently racist. I wrote a lot about this, still living in Russia. The fact that even representatives of the liberal intelligentsia are skipping such words as "my Tajik janitor", "Moldovan-tilers", "guest-worker" - absolutely some kind of Nazi dirty word in relation to foreign citizens who work in Russia.
Quite normal, at least in private conversations, is, they believe, the word "Khokhol". Such seemingly everyday things are natural in the evaluation of representatives of other peoples. In the Russian public culture it is considered the norm to treat representatives of other nations as brothers less. And, of course, this attitude towards Ukrainians is most pronounced.
Even if the Russians, for example, oppose Putin, even if they support the Ukrainian Maidan, they still, many of them, are literally bursting with the desire to tell Ukrainians how they should behave, what to do, how to live.
I have often faced such situations when I met with the Russian Democrats who are for Ukraine who come to Ukraine, but for some reason, some do not really want to listen to what is happening in this country, do not want to understand this, understand this. It does not take three minutes for these people to start saying: "You are doing this wrong, doing something wrong, you should have done this. At us all this already was. Now we'll tell you how to ".
That is, despite all the progressiveness and democracy of many people, unfortunately, most Russians of liberal views have such a patronizing, essentially hidden, racist attitude towards Ukrainians. This is a big trouble. Because this can not be applied to anyone - not the Ukrainians, the inhabitants of Africa, the Lithuanians, or the Tajiks.
I think that the racist complex is exacerbated by Russians because they feel hopeless, unable to change the situation within their own country. This gave rise to envy of Ukrainians even three years ago, who were able to remove their indecent authority. A person comes out of psychological envy in two different ways. One way is to achieve what another person has achieved, to whom you envy. And another way is to disavow the successes of another person in your eyes, call them insignificant, wrong. In connection with the inability to replicate the Ukrainian experience of the struggle for freedom, Russians compensate for themselves with stories about the fact that they (Ukrainians - Red. ) Nothing happened, it does not turn out that they are doing everything wrong.
That is, in the psychological basis of this phenomenon are two things - the old domestic imperial racism in relation to other peoples, Ukrainians in particular. And the second is envy and unrealization in the Russian Federation.
I do not speak in general about Moscow, the Russians and not even about all liberals. In Russia there are enough people who think like me, understand this situation, they think, like in Ukraine, they fully support us. I know a lot of such people, but these people are mostly not public.
Unfortunately, the biggest misfortune in Russia occurs with public people who are forced to express by virtue of their position some kind of their public position. That's where the trouble is, because they have to think one thing, say another. In the end, internal censorship, doublethink leads to the fact that the lie penetrates into the public sphere, becomes part of the picture of the world. Well, like we do not all know ... Ukraine, of course, suffers, but ... It is very difficult to separate, sucks a public person. The person himself gradually convinces himself of his rightness, that he still has the right to tell the Ukrainians how they should live. To feel more inside of Russian society, because it is more and more terrible in it. They never admit this, but it happens.
Still, I think a very important thing is the lack of education for many people who have become in the Russian Federation in recent years twenty public. They do not feel the edge.
In private conversations a person can joke, talk, act as he pleases, but in a public field, Russians need to think whether they have the moral right at the time of their country's attack on Ukraine, in principle, give any condescending assessments to Ukraine, even if their criticism is It may seem reasonable.
