The transition of Ukraine to the Latin alphabet is inexpedient, since the Cyrillic alphabet is "not alien to us"; Currently in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine there is no such bill.

This "Observer" was told by the People's Deputy of Ukraine (the "People's Front" faction), the president of the Ukrainian Association for Religious Freedom Viktor Yelensky.

"I do not see the need for this. Well, what's the point? Once for Turkey, the transition to Latin meant a break with the Arab world. Westernization of the country was connected with the reforms of Ataturk and t. For current countries - such as Kazakhstan - is a break with the Russian world. But for us the Cyrillic alphabet is not a foreign alphabet, "he said..

"I heard how this topic was discussed on one of the TV channels - obviously, there were no other topics for discussion. I do not think that there is any sense in considering such a bill, "said the People's Deputy.

"I have not seen such a bill. But we have a lot of bills submitted to the Verkhovna Rada that will never be laws, "he said..

As the "Observer" wrote, in Kazakhstan the program of transition of the Kazakh alphabet to the Latin alphabet.
