Employees of the department for fighting particularly dangerous types of smuggling of the Ural operational customs have organized a joint operation with the Domodedovo customs to prevent smuggling of diamonds worth more than 16 million rubles.
Two Russian citizens who arrived from India through Dubai transited at the Domodedovo airport on the green corridor, claiming that there was no goods subject to mandatory written declaration. However, during the inspection of hand luggage customs officers found 87 transparent stones with a total weight of almost 100 grams.
According to the results of the expert study, it is established that the imported items are diamonds of different shapes of cut: round, "princess", "oval", "trilliant", "heart" of 0.5 to 33 carats. The cost of stones is estimated at more than 16 million rubles.
In accordance with Federal Law No. 41 "On Precious Metals and Precious Stones", a diamond refers to precious stones and is included in the List of Strategic Goods and Resources. A criminal case has been opened against citizens. 1 st. 226. 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Smuggling of strategically important goods and resources, committed by a group of persons on a preliminary conspiracy".
During the investigation of the criminal case, customs officers found that smugglers brought diamonds to Russia on an ongoing basis. Discovered a few dozen packages with diamonds totaling 718 grams. Precious stones citizens planned to use in commercial activities. Documented to confirm the legality of the imported diamonds in circulation, the detainees could not.
Since in accordance with customs regulations, goods imported by individuals for use in commercial activities are subject to mandatory written declaration and are subject to import customs duties, another criminal case has been instituted against hackers. 1 st. 194 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Evasion from payment of customs payments in a large amount".
The maximum penalty for crimes committed by citizens is imprisonment for up to 7 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
