Russian-speaking people in Ukraine need to be supported, otherwise they will cease to associate themselves with the state.

This was stated by the artist Alexander Roitburd in his interview to the "Observer".

"I've been speaking all my life in Russian. And although for me it was not a problem to learn Ukrainian, but it is psychologically difficult and uncomfortable to switch to Ukrainian at home, at home, with loved ones, alone with myself. At me it simply does not turn out, even if I very much want. And if I try, it can affect my ability to produce meanings and statements, because in Russian it's easier and more natural for me, and in Ukrainian I sound exhausted. I think that the same problem, even with full loyalty to Ukraine, exists in tens of millions of people. I mean an educated urban population, educated in Russian. Far not the most wasteful part of Ukrainian society. Do not understand such things - just stupidly. People who grew up in Ukrainian-speaking regions, in the Ukrainian-speaking environment, who accept Russian with rejection, simply can not imagine that someone with the same rejection can perceive Ukrainian. They think that it is enough to say: "And now we will speak in Ukrainian!" - and everyone will be pleased. But this is not so. The displacement of the Russian language from Ukraine is natural and inevitable. But adults who have formed in the Russian-speaking environment, will not switch to Ukrainian, "- says the artist.

According to him, language is only a tool and they need to use.

"In the country, millions of people who pro-Ukrainian meanings expressed in Russian, will perceive more loyal than all the same, said in Ukrainian. If they are not spoken in the language they speak to their loved ones at home, these people feel that the state has forgotten about them. They unconsciously cease to associate themselves with the state. And in this there is nothing good, "- summed up Roitburd.

As reported by the "Observer", earlier the media told how they destroy the Ukrainian language in the Crimea.
