After the EU gives Ukraine a visa-free regime, Ukraine will be in the TOP-40 countries in the index of openness. This was stated at the briefing by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin.
"Now we have 52 countries with which there is a visa-free regime. After the entire Schengen zone for us will open for us to join 26 countries of the European Union and 4 more countries.
We are currently negotiating with 27 other countries on a visa-free regime. With 11 countries we are negotiating on facilitation. This is the Asian region. On some we go on a visa-free regime. For example, with Japan we are entering a new phase of facilitation. We have plans in the coming weeks and months of the opening of a number of negotiations. Thus, we have a chance in the very near future to open the borders of more than 100 countries for Ukrainians. We even when we were engaged in arithmetic and calculated that we will somewhere be among the first 40 countries in the openness index, when we get visa-free travel with the European Union, "said the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Pavel Klimkin also thanked all those involved in the work on visa liberalization with the EU, commenting on yesterday's decision of the EU Council to grant Ukraine a visa-free regime.
"Without falling into some PR for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I just want to thank everyone who was involved in this decision. Because this is a common achievement. I remember many stages when it seemed that all this would be extremely difficult. But, nevertheless, we realized this unique project. I remember well how many people ached that the EU will never give anything to us. This is in principle a very clear manifestation of the solidarity of the European Union, "the minister summed up..
