The Second World War has left to our generations enormous experience and clues to the solution of many issues that sooner or later will arise before Ukraine.
About this director of the Institute for Strategic Studies "New Ukraine" Andrei Yermolayev said on the air of the TV channel "NewsOne".
According to him, the importance of the Victory Day is that it is the victory of freedom, humanism and civilization choice.
"The war left behind the bitterness of victories and defeats, the horrific experience associated with crimes, the difficult situation in society, because in every nation there are those who fought, who were perplexed and betrayed. We have the same challenge in the future. We need a new dialogue with the Donbas and the Crimea. We need the experience of generations of the Second World War in the present time. We still have to deal with the phenomenon of Ukrainian separatism in its various forms, how to deal with confused and misguided people, how to organize this dialogue, "said Andrei Ermolaev.
According to him, the experience of World War II gives us these keys.
"If we ignore it, I'm afraid that the tragedies will simply be repeated. Therefore, I see the importance and significance of this Victory Day as the victory of freedom, humanism, civilizational choice and overcoming the misanthropic ideology, "emphasized the director of" New Ukraine ".
He noted that today there were units of those who personally remember the results of the Second World War, or participated in it.
"But each time marking this date, we not only pay tribute to the departed, but also try to understand what happened then. Most importantly, the horror of the man-hating fascist ideology was overcome, "said Andrei Ermolaev.
"The results of the Second World War pushed the world toward humanization, the emergence of new national projects and the liberation of colonies from the old empires.
But the most important thing for us is that the victory in World War II predetermined the collapse of Soviet totalitarianism. The generation of the war, which paid millions of lives, found the courage to part with the Soviet empire and support the choice of the then republics in 1991 on a peaceful, bloodless basis. This is exactly what it carried like a genocode, what it bequeathed to children - a world without war and without blood. These generations have succeeded! ", - said Andrei Ermolaev.
