Chernobyl exploded yesterday, the 4th block of the nuclear power plant. 31 year ago. Already and almost no one remembers.

I worked at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Nuclear Engineering (VNIIAM) and spent several months at several nuclear power plants with the same type of RBMK reactor as at Chernobyl, where they debugged the automation of the second circuit.

Many colleagues from the "atomic" departments were among the liquidators of the accident - so it was then called. Therefore, in general terms, I represented the physical nature of the catastrophe and its consequences.

And I will never forget how long the leaders of the Soviet people lied to him, afraid of telling people the truth.

However, as it turned out, they themselves poorly understood the nightmarish scale of the disaster, sending the liquidators to the very heat, to certain death, which sometimes stretched for years.

This is a very bitter story, who remembers and knows, he will understand.
