In social networks, the relevance of the statement of the Russian philosopher Vladimir Solovyov about the Russian mentality.
The corresponding entry appeared on the page of Russian blogger Pavel Pryanikov in Facebook.
The blogger quoted a prominent Russian philosopher of the XIX century Vladimir Solovyov on the Russian character.
Solov'ev suggested that the Russian people be represented as "a man by nature of a healthy, strong, intelligent, capable and kindly person", but in a "very sad state: he is sick, devastated, demoralized". Solovyov comes to the conclusion that this people, "although it can not be considered formally insane, is obsessed with false ideas bordering megalomania and the mania of enmity towards him of everyone".
Explaining his point of view, the philosopher continues: "It seems to him that all neighbors offend him, do not bow to his greatness, and, in every possible way,. He accuses each and every one of his households of trying to hurt him, to separate from him and move to enemies - and he considers his enemies to be all his neighbors. And now, instead of living his honest work for the benefit of himself and his neighbors, he is ready to spend all his fortune and time on the fight against imaginary intrigues. Imagining that neighbors want to undermine his house and even attack him with an armed hand, he suggests spending huge money on the purchase of pistols and rifles, on iron fences and closures. Remaining from these worries time he considers it his duty again to use to fight - with his own domestic ".
The quotation is dated 1892 and is really striking in its relevance.
