To say that the suddenly appeared signboard opposite the Kiev synagogue "The Holocaust Cabaret" angered the Jewish community, it's not to say anything. A serious scandal broke out!.

It seems to be a private event, a small theater, a simple sign. A beautiful decoration for the capital of a European state, is not it?.

In the end, the sign was removed, but the sediment, as they said in Odessa, remained. Local authorities reacted to the scandal. Thanks to everyone who is not indifferent, thanks to Alexei Reznikov, thanks to Vadim Rabinovich, who personally tore off the vile advertising placates. I even wanted to break the signboard, but dissuaded them: they say that partisanship is not our method.

I think I'm not a prude. I can understand a lot and explain a lot. But there are things that my mind can not accept. Well they do not fit in my head! As, for example, the phrase "Holocaust Cabaret".

How can one of the hardest system murders in history with the word "cabaret" (we read - an entertaining institution with a certain artistic program, which consists of light songs, humoresks, skits, dance numbers, etc.) is combined in one phrase,. Such dances on the bones of murdered Jews!.

And most of all I was "pleased" with a few particularly blatant facts! The announcement of this "play" appeared on the day of the Memory of the catastrophe and heroism of Eastern European Jewry, moreover, only two houses from the Kiev Choral Synagogue! How is this possible, and what sinister absurdity was laid by someone in this action? But the most amazing sponsor of this disgrace was the Genesis Foundation, the one that is going to make Kiev happy with the Holocaust Memorial Center. Apparently, they have already begun. Such here will be a memorial center with a cabaret, directly to Babi Yar.

It's wonderful, is not it? Sea tact and unique interplay! Or, as the founding fathers of the Babiy Yar Foundation like to say,.

Well, the right-word, no anti-Semites are needed, if the Jewish organizations themselves are so subtle about our historical grief. As they say - "why do we need enemies, when we have such friends?".

Well, in order not to look prejudiced, a few words about this culturrateger sharashke under the shocking title "The Holocaust Cabaret" is a new project of the Kiev theater "Misanthrope" based on the play of Canadian playwright Jonathan Garfinkel. The work is based on the life story of one of the most odious figurants of trials of Nazi criminals - Ivan "John" Demjanjuk.

Probably, it is worth reminding the people of Kiev about this story and about this ominous character. But somehow more ethical, without a frank mockery of those whose grandparents perished in that terrible pit.

Although, what am I talking about? Today, the more dirty boots are drowned in delicate forget-me-nots, the higher the apotheosis of art, the more enthusiastic sobs of critics and press attention. And this is the most important thing in our hard world. And I'm talking about some kind of ethics.
