In Israel, he died a famous photographer and photographer, winner of the Israel Prize (1997) David Rubinger. He was 92 years old.

Rubinger was born in Vienna. In 1938, after Austria's accession to the Nazi Germany, went down in history as the "Anschluss", his father was sent to the Dachau concentration camp, and the family along with the other Jews of the Austrian capital was placed in a Jewish ghetto established there.

In 1939, at age 15 Rubinger immigrated to Israel with the support of the Zionist movement "Aliyat ha-Noar".

In 1942, 18-year-old David Rubinger fought in the "Jewish Brigade" against the Nazis in North Africa and then Europe.

His first photograph of the future famous reporter made in 1945. Many years later he recalled it this way:.

In 1946, on the recommendation of then young Israeli journalist Uri Avnery David Rubinger was hired photojournalist edition of "Ha-ha-ze olyam", and a few years later began to work in Time magazine. With this edition Rubinger bind long creative collaboration. His contract with Time was terminated only in 2010, when the photographer was 86 years old.
