The children of People's Artist of Ukraine Stepan Gigi - Kvitoslava and Stepan Jr. - revealed the disease that took the life of their star father. It turned out that all the rumors about the singer’s diabetes mellitus were true, but an infection also contributed to a serious deterioration in his condition.

As Kvitoslava Giga shared, the performer fought for life for more than two months, but, unfortunately, the body could not cope with the disease. The children of the late celebrity spoke about the details of the tragedy in the project “Naodintsi”.

“Diabetes played a decisive role and infection, which, unfortunately, the body could not cope with. We fought for two and a half months. We tried, but what happened happened. It's hard to talk and remember. I still can’t believe that we couldn’t overcome this disease,” said the performer’s daughter.

According to Kvitoslava Giga, she did not comment on her father’s illness in the public space, because at that difficult time she simply closed herself off. Stepan Giga's children were with him in the hospital until the end, talked a lot and even discussed plans for the further development of his career.

" We communicated via video and he said that we need to continue working, we need to go to the studio, finish something. There are songs that were not released during his lifetime. We are finalizing them. He said that he would get treatment and everything would be fine,” said Stepan Giga Jr..

The family of the People's Artist of Ukraine believed until the last that he would be able to cope with the disease.

Stepan Giga's children noticed that he never lost his positive attitude and even at a time when the illness was already making itself felt, he went on stage. The performer loved his audience very much, but during his last concerts he was forced to take a chair with him because he no longer felt so good.

But still the disease took over. As Kvitoslava and Stepan Jr. recalled, during their father’s next visit to the hospital, doctors asked them to leave the room. On that day, December 12, 2025, Stepan Gigi's heart stopped at the age of 66.
