A new manager of the Russian embassy in Argentina, during an inventory in December 2016, discovered a large consignment of cocaine on the territory of the school at the Argentine Embassy. Carefully packed cargo was hidden in one of the numerous subcubes located in the basement of the school.

The cost of the detected high quality cocaine was estimated at 50 million euros. Immediately after detection, cocaine was replaced with flour, suitcases were equipped with GPS sensors. Further monitoring was carried out. The cargo was sent to Moscow by diplomatic mail. He belonged to the already completed business trip to Argentina, the manager Ali Abyanov, who asked to send his property to Russia. Three days later, Ali Ajanov and his accomplices Ishtimir Khuzdamov and Vladimir Kalmykov were detained. Later in Moscow, Alexander Chikalo and Ivan Bliznyuk were arrested. The latter "rendered and provides financial support to the parish", as they say on the website "Russian Orthodox Church in South America". With closer study it turned out that Bliznyuk - the son of Russian emigrants, serving in the police of Argentina. In the line of cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, he visited Moscow. During the search, euro, dollars, gold jewelry and diamonds were found in his apartment.

Ali Abyanov, according to his lawyer, worked for many years in diplomatic missions, held technical positions. His wife worked at the school. In 2011, during one of these trips Ali got acquainted with Andrei Kovalchuk, who introduced himself as one of the "curators" who monitored embassy employees abroad. Abyanov considered Kovalchuk "almost a general", doubts about the decency of the silovik did not arise in the manager's office. Later, Abyanov was transferred to work in the Embassy of Argentina. A friendship with Kovalchuk continued, Kovalchuk did not ask for the post and rank, because "he understood that the security services are working under cover".

Kovalchuk periodically visited Argentina, brought his mother and relatives to rest there. In 2016, Kovalchuk brought and asked to place 12 suitcases in the backyards of the school, to cover up which the manager did not take special measures. The cargo was sent to Moscow as a personal one owned by Abyanov, which he had not had time to send. It was assumed that the suitcases were shipped on a private side, then they were delivered to Russia by a special board, which is usually used by the first persons of the state.
