For decades, neurophysiologists have tried to explain why orgasm achieves such pleasurable sensations, both in men and women, and what mechanism exists for it.

Orgasm is the result of rhythmic sexual stimulation. Rhythmic sexual movements send nerve impulses of a certain frequency to certain areas of the brain, often overloading them, which coincides with the point of orgasm. With regard to brain activity, this condition strongly resembles a syncope.

During a syncope in the brain, there is an excess of activity of neurons - too strong stimulation leads to an overload of the pathways for carrying out nerve impulses that can envelop the entire brain. Synchronous brain signals are the key to conscious thinking and unconscious control over body functions. Interruption or violation of their frequency from too fast or powerful signals leads to convulsions and loss of consciousness.

Rhythmic sexual stimuli also affect the activity of the brain, increasing the activity of neurons, and if the stimulation is strong enough, the resulting neural signals almost uncontrollably wrap around large parts of the brain, enhancing their sensation to the limit. In these areas, there is a temporary overload of virtually all signaling pathways. This is the threshold of the orgasmic state of the brain. When orgasm is reached, and ejaculation occurs, brain activity is normalized.

These two facts raise the question: "Why does one type of hyperactivity of neural pathways lead to pleasure, and the other to convulsions? ".

Convulsions affect arbitrary areas of the brain that can temporarily not receive or transmit other impulses, they are almost "off". According to the stimulus, this leads to loss of muscle motor control, lowering of blood pressure and breathing, loss of consciousness and often loss of memory for the period before the attack.
