Olga Lukinskaya "Advise a good gynecologist" is perhaps the most common request in "female" groups in social networks, but the recommendations of girlfriends often do not become a solution to the problem. The most polite doctor may not possess a modern approach to the treatment of infections or the management of pregnancy - and vice versa, the doctor can practice evidence-based medicine, but will spoil the whole impression by referring to the patient for "you". Nevertheless, excellent specialists, to which there is a pleasure, there are - and we have collected ten signs that it is time to look for such a doctor and go away from the usual.

1 You are treated with condescension Paternalism in communicating with the patient with the patient - the attitude of the "adult" to the "child" - has been a normal practice for centuries, but modern medical ethics means partnership. This means that the patient should be told what happens to him, take an interest in his opinion and even allow his participation in making medical decisions. But if the doctor adheres to the classical guidelines - paternalism implies empathy, care and responsibility, rather than indulgence and rudeness, in which he often turns. Appeal to "you", condescending tone, accusations of debauchery are manifestations of rudeness and unprofessionalism and they should not be tolerated. Protection of personal data is also an important point of medical ethics; in Russia on strict confidentiality the gynecologist can count from fifteen years (which, quite frankly, quite late). If a call is made from the clinic to report the results of the tests - they should be reported only to you personally, not to your mother, sister or husband; this also applies to e-mail - any medical data can be sent only to the address you have left. 2 You are ashamed of your personal life. The task of a gynecologist is to collect information necessary for determining the general state of your health, diagnosing diseases, selecting treatment or, for example, contraceptives. It is perfectly normal if the doctor asks if you are living a sexual life and whether you have one partner, whether you want to become pregnant in the foreseeable future, whether there has been a change in the sexual partner after the previous visit. All these questions are needed not to condemn you or to hint that "it's time to give birth", but for understanding what tests and contraceptives to recommend. But the questions about how many sexual partners you have had in your life, superfluous and certainly should not be repeated at every visit. The doctor should not comment on the characteristics of your personal life, no matter what they are. Phrases like "what is it you have, so young and beautiful, no one" - an occasion at least ask not to discuss non-medical issues, but as a maximum - to start looking for another doctor. And, of course, the gynecologist should not scold you for epilation, tattoos, piercings or insufficiently white socks - they do not have a relationship with a medical device. 3 You are afraid to ask questions Actually, no accusations at the doctor's office take place. Of course, the general idea of ??the structure of the human body or the work of hormones will not hurt anyone - but everyone knows that with sexual enlightenment, the situation in general is not very good. Relations with the doctor should be such that you do not hesitate to ask even seemingly silly questions - and the doctor calmly answered them. Even a specialist can not remember everything - and it's normal, if the doctor checks the compatibility of different drugs in the directory. It happens that the diagnosis can not be determined from the first time and you need to undergo several examinations. There is nothing wrong with the fact that the gynecologist refines the data in certain sources, and vice versa, excessive self-confidence is bad, especially in combination with the same requirements from the patient. 4 You are persuaded to give birth soon. Of course, if you are planning a pregnancy in the coming years, and the reproductive age is already approaching the elder - it is logical to hear the doctor's advice not to delay this moment if you are interested in children. But the persuasion to give birth simply "for health", not taking into account your personal situation - the presence of a couple, financial conditions, views - is unethical, and not very competent. Indeed, there are situations when overall health and well-being after a hormonal shake associated with pregnancy and childbirth become better - but it can also be vice versa. There are no diseases that could be guaranteed to be cured by pregnancy. A child is a new life, an individual for whom his parents are responsible, not an opportunity to improve one's own health. 5 You are diagnosed with non-existent Cervical erosion, perhaps the most frequent example of a non-existent diagnosis in gynecology. In fact, erosion, of course, exists, but in the post-Soviet space for it in an enormous number of cases an ectopia is given - one of the norm variants, when the "junction" between the epithelium of the outer part of the cervix and its canal is visible on examination. Ectopia does not need to be treated - moreover, its "moxibustion" can lead to the fact that if there are really important changes they will be difficult to notice. To assert that the "cervix" was found on the cervix, according to the data of a single examination, especially with the unaided eye, also it is impossible. Of course, with colposcopy (examination of the cervix with a strong increase), it is possible to identify the started changes, but any oncological diagnosis can be confirmed only after studying the tissue under a microscope in a special laboratory. 6 Many things are forbidden to you during pregnancy. Normally, a pregnant pregnancy is not a disease, and expecting a child does not mean that you should give up sports, stop going to the beach or a sauna and sit on the strictest diet. Indeed, there are a number of products and medicines that are not recommended for pregnant women - and for each of them there is a specific rationale. Ask why something is forbidden to you - the answer must be unambiguous and accurate. If the doctor intimidates complications, reinsures, appoints bed restraint without a clearly established diagnosis, insists on a cesarean section "just in case" - it may be worthwhile looking for another specialist. Recall that the "tone of the uterus", which in Russia is actively treated with tablets and suppositories, is often completely normal for any stage of pregnancy Brexton-Hicks. The prohibition of any medication by default is also unreasonable - for example, conventional remedies for the treatment of cold symptoms can be safely taken (of course, only if there is evidence and a short course). 7 You are treated with unscientific methods We will not tire of repeating that in medicine there is no place to refuse vaccination without clear indications or treatment with homeopathy. The emphasis on treatment only natural means and grandmother methods can make worse for two reasons: first, the herbal remedies themselves can cause a completely unexpected reaction, that is, they are unsafe. Secondly, it is possible to miss a valuable time when it should be treated by normal methods with proven effectiveness, and the condition will become more severe. A doctor or midwife should not insist on natural childbirth without anesthesia, calling anesthesia evil and scaring the consequences for the child - it's just not true. You should know about the options and have the right to decide for yourself whether you want to use anesthesia - and no one should judge you for making a choice. 8 You are forced to treat "venereal diseases" when they are not. The human body is inhabited by bacteria and fungi - and this also applies to genitals. Shift of microflora can occur for various reasons; sometimes a certain type of microbes starts to multiply too fast, and then there is a thrush (fungal infection) or, for example, gardnerellosis. Often this happens when you change your sexual partner - and a woman who does not have deep medical knowledge has the impression that she has contracted something. Even more difficult if the partner has not changed: suspicions of treason can arise, and this will not benefit the relationship. The gynecologist should not support this position - on the contrary, he should explain that the vaginal microflora can be changed for a variety of reasons, not related to the fidelity of the partner. Inflammation can and reception of antibiotics, and a strong summer heat, and a change in the brand of condoms. If a doctor calls a thrush a venereal disease - look for another doctor. 9 Your doctor does not know the modern protocols of treatment. Russian official recommendations for gynecological care are not inferior to international ones, but they are not respected by all - therefore, surgical abortions continue to be performed instead of medical ones, and even women do not offer vaccination against the papilloma virus. It is clear that patients can not be aware of the correct medical tactics on any issue, but some things should be remembered. For example, vaccination against HPV - a powerful prevention of cervical cancer - can be performed not only in adolescence and not only for those who do not yet have a sex life. It is known that the vaccine helps to reduce the level of the virus when it has already been detected - and to do it, according to updated indications, it is possible up to forty five years. 10 Your doctor hides information.

and extorts money Direction to "proven" specialists strictly in a particular clinic, the appointment of a lot of unnecessary tests, demonstrative transfer of packages with gifts from other patients are clear reasons to part with a doctor. If you are in a paid clinic, the calculations should be conducted through the cashier, and not personally with the doctor - otherwise problems can arise, for example, when you need a medical statement, and it does not have half of the procedures.

It happens that you really need a complex analysis, which is better to hold it in a certain laboratory - but your doctor should answer your questions about why this is so. For example, perhaps in other laboratories there is no suitable analytical equipment - and you can check this information if you want. In general, insist on the transparency of any data.
