The mechanic called on drivers immediately stop driving if they are faced with an unpleasant warning sign while driving.

Often motorists do not pay much attention to smoke from the exhaust pipe when they start the car in cold weather. But the British Mechanical Expertise Sean Jones warned that white smoke could be a sign of a serious malfunction of the car, writes Express.

" Although short trips can be safe if smoke occurs due to condensation, other breakdowns, for example, a swollen head of the head or coolant leak, may worsen during driving, ”the expert explained.

According to the mechanic, if the coolant leaks occurred, it is important to find and repair the source, whether it be a radiator, a water pump or worn out seals.

Laying the head is a seal between the cylinder head and block, which prevents mixing oil and coolant and helps to increase power. It in almost all modern gasoline and diesel engines.

When a coolant leak, the engine head can fail - this will lead to rapidly overheating of the engine and a significant drop in power. If the driver continues to use the vehicle, the components will not be lubricated properly, which means that they are faced with a much greater risk of breakdowns.

However, white exhaust smoke may indicate that the coolant flows from another part of the car. It can also indicate a cracked cylinder head.

The cylinder head in the upper part of the engine helps to control how much air and fuel receives each cylinder to get the best combination of power and fuel saving. If it cracks, the cooling liquid can flow into the component, which will lead to the appearance of white smoke from the exhaust pipe.

In most cases, the cracked head of the cylinder block will need to be completely replaced.
