On January 26, Ukraine celebrates the day of the employee of the control and audit service of Ukraine, and in the world-International Customs Day. International Day of Pure Energy is also celebrated.
The church on this day honors the holy monks Xenophon and Mary. The Monks Xenophon, his wife Maria and their sons Arkady and John were noble residents of Constantinople in the 5th century. Despite its high status and wealth, this family was distinguished by piety and good heart. Wanting to give their sons a better education, Xenophon and Maria sent them to the Phoenician city of Beirut. However, during the trip, their ship crashed, and the brothers were on the shore in different places.
Having survived a ship disaster, John and Arkady decided to devote their lives to God and took monastic vows. Meanwhile, their parents did not receive news about their sons for a long time and considered them dead. However, Rev. Xenophon remained unshakable in faith, reassured his wife and advised her to rely on the Lord. His confidence was justified: after many years of separation, the whole family reunited in Jerusalem, where the brothers served in monasteries.
The reunion was a great blessing for the family. Grateful for this mercy, Xenophon and Maria also decided to become monks, devoting their lives to prayer and spiritual deeds. They observed strict fasting and silence, for which the Lord endowed them with the gift of miracles..
Their sons, Arkady and John, having said goodbye to their parents, went into the desert, where they accomplished many spiritual feats. Their zeal in faith and righteous life led to the fact that they received from God the gift of clairvoyance and miracles.. Their fame spread far beyond the monasteries.
Saints Xenophon and Maria remained in the monastery, devoting themselves to prayers and spiritual mentoring of other monks.
Their life became a model of Christian humility, patience and faith. They died in a deep old age, leaving behind their memory as the great ascetics of the Christian faith.
The memory of Saints Xenophon, Mary, Arkady and John is celebrated by the Orthodox Church, and they are considered patrons of family unity, prayer and spiritual achievement. Their life is an example of boundless trust in the Lord and a reminder that faith and love are able to overcome any difficulties.
