Apple plans to update its MacBook Air lineup with M4-powered models later this year. 13- and 15-inch versions of the device are already in production. They will be codenamed J713 and J715 and could debut in the coming months..

According to analyst Mark Gurman, these changes will complement the MacBook series of laptops after the MacBook Pro launches from the M4 in 2023. Apple is predicted to keep the M2-based MacBook Air as a budget alternative, with new M4 models replacing M3-based devices.

Now the price of MacBook Air M2 starts from $999 (over 42 thousand hryvnia), and the version with M3 costs from $1099 (46.5 thousand. UAH), reports MacRumors.

In addition to M4 models, the company is also working on the M5 processor, which could appear at the end of 2025. Gurman suggests that significant changes in the design of Apple laptops will occur only with the release of the M6.

The new M5 chip will likely provide even more power over the M4, as was seen in the transition from M3 to M4. Apple has also dropped the minimum 8GB of unified memory on base models, which will improve multitasking.

The updated MacBook Air will not yet receive an OLED matrix. It may appear only in the next generations of MacBook Pro, as indicated by information leaks.

Apple is gradually taking gaming on Mac more seriously.

The GPU in the M5 chips is expected to significantly improve performance, making the MacBook even more attractive to gamers.

For users who have already purchased an M3 MacBook Air, there may be no point in rushing to upgrade. However, for owners of older models, the new M4 laptops may be an attractive choice.

There is no official date for the presentation of the MacBook Air from the M4, but analysts predict the release of the devices in the first half of 2025.
