TV presenter Ekaterina Osadchaya shared how a year has passed for her since the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine. All this time, the star was looking for Ukrainians, as they disappeared during the hostilities. Exactly a year ago, Osadchaya created the Poshuk Zniklikh Telegram channel, which subsequently transformed into a large-scale social project cooperating with the National Police, the National Information Bureau, as well as with many other government agencies and organizations. “The Know Your Own project started on March 3 when a lot of reports about missing people, in particular children, began to appear, and even then it became clear that people needed information on how to look for each other. The value of our project lies in the fact that we are constantly looking for new means of search, for example, in the temporarily occupied territory, where there is no communication. My team and I sometimes say that victory will come for us only when we find all the lost ones,"
In addition, the TV presenter added that she is now actively working on civilian search stories, and is also trying to reach out to the International Committee of the Red Cross.. " Every day we try to draw the attention of the community to this issue..
After all, for example, when you hear a story that a 20-year-old guy from Bucha, whom his mother has been looking for for a year, was taken straight from the street, you understand that he is in civilian captivity, while we try to reach out to everyone in the international committee of the " they are allowed to see civilians and prisoners of war. This is an extremely big problem that we need to fight,” Osadchaya says..
During the year of its existence, the project received 7456 applications for the disappearance of civilians, of which 3556 are Ukrainians from Mariupol. Project volunteers made 10,000 contacts with relatives of the missing in a year. Joint efforts located or restored contact with 2145 Ukrainians.
