In 1944, at the head of the group on the instructions of the Center, Botyan went to Lviv, and then to Krakow. The group's goal was reconnaissance of the location and movement of German troops; the ground was set for the advance of Soviet troops. Botyan managed to establish cooperation with completely different political forces, as part of the Home Army, the Ludova Army and the Khlopsky Peasant Battalions.

At the end of 1944, the group captured the German engineer - cartographer Sigmund Ogarek. From it, it became known about the explosive depot in one of the castles and the plan for the explosion of bridges and the historical part of ancient Krakow, the Rozhnovsky Dam and bridges across Dunajec. Initially, the task of the group did not mean saving Krakow. A Polish patriot was introduced into the castle under the guise of a loader, who installed a time bomb, which destroyed the warehouse. So in January 1945 the warehouse was blown up, and the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front under the command of Konev entered unexploded Krakow, where the Germans managed to blow up only a few bridges across the Vistula. And in the city of Ilzha, along with Polish names, the names of fighters from the Botyan’s group flaunt along with the Polish names - they, together with units of the Army Ludova, released Polish patriots from prison and seized a fair amount of weapons and equipment. Since 1947, Botyan worked in Czechoslovakia, where he was legalized under the guise of a Czech worker, worked as a locksmith, and even studied at the Higher Industrial Engine Building School.
