On October 25, the horror movie "Halloween" is released - a continuation of the famous tape of 1978.. And the Queen of Crying, Jamie Lee Curtis, appeared in it again.. What made the actress enter the same river again?.

Caught on three hooks Jamie, why did you return to the role of Laurie Stroud 40 years later?.

Frankly, I immediately got on three hooks.. You won't see it in the movie, but it was in the script.. First hook: when going to school, my character's granddaughter is looking for a sweater in the closet, whose doors resemble blinds, pulling the rope, and the closet is lit with a light bulb without a ceiling. When I read it, at the same second I realized that I should be in this movie.. If he has such a beginning, then everything else should be wonderful..

The second hook - the use of developments of specialists who investigate the characteristic features of the behavior of maniac killers. So you need to tell this story!.

Finally, I was subdued by the depth of the experience of psychological trauma. The director’s idea, according to which the new “Halloween” should be a continuation of the original film of 40 years ago, became clear, and all other parts of this franchise can be forgotten..

Well, I will not hide, I liked the creative approach of the current director David Gordon Green. Despite the fact that there was a forty-year break between the two pictures, I felt in familiar territory. And immediately said: “Great, when do the shooting start?” ".

Did David work together right away?.

I didn't always understand what he was doing.. Often changed approaches, carefully groped the way. It strained. Moreover, I am a straightforward person: tell me what to do, I will come and do everything. And David, on the contrary, preferred to experiment. And you know what? Every time I came to shoot my scenes - no matter what - I started to cry. I do not know why. I started to shake, tears themselves poured out of my eyes. Maybe the fact that I lived in Charleston, in an unfamiliar city, alone, far from my relatives (only my dog ??was my company), contributed to the fact that I suddenly felt keenly felt the consequences of a complex psychological trauma that I experienced with my heroine Laurie stroud.

When I read the script, I couldn’t even imagine that on the set I would be embraced by such feelings. But we started to figure out what happened to Laurie.. We decided to look into her past and see where she met a certain person.. It turned out that she ran into him at the bar. At that moment she was drunk and had no idea who this stranger was.. And so we began to unravel the whole tangle. The more closely they looked at her past, the more traumatic it turned out to be..

Very funny actress What did you think when David Green asked you to forget about what was in the second movie while filming?.

I was delighted. I agreed to act in the second film only because it started from the place where the first film ended (“Halloween-2” was shot in 1981. - Note. ed. And the first owes her career so that she could not participate. Can you imagine how the audience would react if another actress played in Halloween-2?.

In short, she felt indebted and therefore agreed to shoot. But she warned me to do this for the last time.. She knew: I do not have enough professional training, faith in myself to continue. I have no special abilities: I do not know how to sing, tell jokes, imitate accents ... There is a sense of humor, but this is not enough to be considered a talented actress. Between us - I don't have a drop of talent. And if I said that I would not be filming anymore, I could have been without a job for a long time..

By the way, precisely due to the fact that it lit up in horror, then it got a role in John Landis' comedy “Swap places”. John was filming a short documentary “Soon on the Screens” - a story about the horror films of the 1950s, using famous trailers, and he needed a storyteller. For that hired me. And I realized: though I am not a talented, but a good actress. (Laughs). ) No, really! Always keep fit.

When he later picked up the actors for the movie “Swap Places,” he announced to the bosses of Paramount that along with Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, Denholm Elliott, Don Amici, Ralph Bellamy they would hire Jamie Curtis for the role of prostitute. The bosses hair stood on end: "What? ! ". I am sure that they answered John: “Do not even dream! ". Because they were ready to hire any of the best comedians of the time, and each would agree with great pleasure.. But he said, "No, I will take this girl. I think she's very funny. ”.

It's just a job. As a person who is well-versed in the horror genre, you need to understand why he is so popular.. What attracts viewers to it?.

I do not know. Personally, I hate it when they scare me. I'm an incredible coward. Even Bambi and other Disney cartoons scare me. When I watched “The Little Mermaid” with its sea witch and “Aladdin”, where there was a black magician Jafar, I was seized with horror.

But you should definitely like to frighten others ... not at all. I am a pacifist, animal lover, working with charities. I am easy to bring to tears, I am a very empathetic person. And in general - aggressiveness is alien to me.

How has your attitude to character Laurie Stroud changed in 40 years? Surely at some time they considered this role to be their luck, and in the other - a curse..

Are you laughing It was just a job! I was unemployed most of my life. Only a few times earned by contract - when I was hired to shoot television commercials. This made it possible not to think about how to provide for the family.. The rest of the time I was a freelancer. Nobody pays me anything today. Maybe tomorrow will be different. But this means that when you work, you are grateful for this.. So I treat life.

Among other things, I advertised yogurt - for five years doing this! But I had the opportunity to be at home with my little son.. So if I have a job (no matter what - even horrible movies), I think this is luck.

What is the movie about?.

Many years ago, Laurie Stroud miraculously survived, escaping from the hands of serial maniac Michael Myers.

She has a daughter, Karen and a granddaughter, Allison, both of whom grew up under the influence of the post-traumatic syndrome of their mother and grandmother.. Myers, who killed four teenagers on Halloween 1978, spent all these years in custody. But one day, he makes a daring escape from the psychiatric hospital and goes to the town of Haddonfield. Having learned about what happened, Lori understands that the killer is following her, but is ready to give him a fight - to meet face to face again and finish off Myers.
