The Oscar Committee of Cambodia has chosen a film that this year will compete for the Oscar award from the country.

It was decided that the ribbon "First they killed my father" will go to the prestigious ceremony, directed by Angelina Jolie. The painting will claim to win in the category "Best film in a foreign language".

Announcing their choice, representatives of the Oscar Committee of Cambodia said:.

"First they killed my father" explores the tragic period of history through the eyes of the child. Members of the committee, as well as the Khmer community, believe that the film represents a kind of catharsis, as it brings back memories that are often forgotten ".
