August 31, 1997, the mother of princes William and Harry Princess Diana died in a car accident in Paris.
On the 20th anniversary of the death of Lady Di rescuer Xavier Gurmelo told about the last minutes of the life of the princess. It was he who pulled Diana out of a car. Then the princess was still alive.
"Woman, a little later I learned that it was Princess Diana, lying on the floor of the rear seats. She moved slightly, and I realized that she was alive. I saw that she had a minor bruise on her right shoulder, but apart from that, there was nothing essential. Blood on it was not at all, "- the man shared in an interview with The Sun.
According to Gurmelo, when he pulled Lady Dee out of the car, she was conscious and could even speak.
"I held her hand and spoke to remain calm and not move. She said: "My God, what happened?" I gave her some oxygen, and we were together with the team after she got out of the car. We are all trained in first aid, I saw that she had a cardiac arrest, and she stopped breathing. I did her heart massage, and after a few seconds she started to breathe again. Of course, I felt relieved, because working in the rapid response service, you want to save lives, and I thought that this is exactly what I did, "- said the rescuer.
Xavier shared that he had no idea how serious the internal damage was to Princess Diana. The rescuer hoped for her recovery.
"Honestly, I thought that she would live. As far as I know, when Diana was in the ambulance, she was alive, and I was hoping she would survive.
But later I learned that she died in the hospital, "- shared the memories of the former rescuer.
Recall Princess Diana died in a car crash in a tunnel on the Seine embankment in Paris 20 years ago. Together with Lady Dee in the car were the son of billionaire Dodi al-Fayed, driver Henri Paul and bodyguard Trevor Ris-Jones. It is still unknown what exactly caused the accident. According to one of the versions, the driver was in a state of intoxication and exceeded the speed limit, but there is also the opinion that the accident was arranged.
