Oh, thanks for the compliment! You correctly noticed. I know directors who would like to work with me, but in the end they say that my appearance is a "distraction of attention". With this formulation, I was denied several interesting roles. This is terribly angry and upsetting. In the end, makeup can change a lot, and I do not give up trying.

In the new film "The Mummy" your heroine is a scientist. Women in science can afford to be unreal beauties?.

Next to Tom Cruise, the heroine should look on the screen at least attractive - even if it is smeared with mud from head to foot. The role of Jenny Halsey was for me luck. I knew that there was a list of actresses who were considered for this role. But I got a meeting with the producers and Tom. We talked about the movie and many other things. Apparently, something in this conversation made an impression on Tom, and he invited me to play Jenny.

You mean that you did not pass the test?.

No, there was another meeting with Tom. We together read a few scenes. Then I found out that at that time I had already been approved. There was a feeling that Cruz was my old good friend and working with him easily. And so it happened.

This film is difficult to cram into the framework of a genre. Of course, there are a lot of adrenaline-filled scenes in it. But there is another. My heroine is an archaeologist, and Tom's character is essentially a mercenary and a thief. He is completely different from the previous Cruz characters! In Jenny, too, there are many surprises. So Tom and I turn everything upside down (laughs). ) Extravagance and humor of the main characters - qualities very attractive to the modern spectator.

Your share in the film has a lot of physical exertion - how did you deal with it?.

Naturally, we all trained every day. My sports enthusiasm also helped. Together with my brother I drove on a motorcycle, I played polo - I love riding. Behind these blond curls and blue eyes is not a princess, but a tomboy. (Laughs). ) All this was useful in the work next to Cruz. For him, for example, was the discovery that I can run perfectly. He did not believe until one day on training he proved that I can run with him on equal terms.

Have you developed a special program for you?.

Every day we spent an hour in the gym on the treadmill. Then they trained with stuntmen, climbed rock climbing, in the evening - pilates. But the most serious test - and the greatest entertainment - was work in weightlessness. For a few days of filming, we experienced this sensation 64 times. I was okay, but my body panicked. (Laughs). ) Even Tom was slightly dumbfounded, and this is with his experience!.

I can sing, dance. I think I will do everything that the role will require of me. In the families of creative people, hardly anyone makes a conscious decision to become an artist, or a director, or a singer. You are born with this. The desire for creativity lies in the genes. Father was an actor, served in the "Royal Shakespeare Company". My mother's uncle, Richard Harris, was a very famous actor and singer. Such a connection can not but affect the person.

Neither me, nor my brother, but he was a director, no one was pushing to the choice of our professions - all this happened for both of us in the most natural way.

Do you plan to work in the theater?.

Living in London, is it possible not to love the theater? !! But this is a luxury for an actor. After eight months you play two performances a day, you need a year of vacation or ... to act in an active movie. (Laughs). ) I definitely want to work in the theater someday.
